Grant will support transportation, work essentials, healthcare and other immediate needs as individuals move toward employment and housing stability.

Pottstown Beacon of Hope (PBOH) is grateful to announce a $30,000 grant from The Foxwynd Foundation to help individuals experiencing homelessness find and sustain employment. The funding will provide practical, individualized assistance to remove barriers that can stand between someone and a job, particularly during the critical weeks before receiving a first paycheck.

Steady employment can be an important step toward housing stability, yet seemingly manageable expenses can become significant obstacles for someone experiencing homelessness. Transportation to an interview, a working cell phone, appropriate clothing or an unexpected car repair can determine whether someone can accept a job or continue working.

The Foxwynd Foundation's support will help PBOH respond to these needs through transportation assistance, cell phones, work clothing and boots, minor vehicle repairs, short-term hotel stays, medications, medical assistance and emergency supplies. These resources will be provided according to each individual's circumstances, with an emphasis on addressing immediate obstacles to employment.

Building relationships that lead to stability

PBOH works alongside people experiencing homelessness through emergency shelter, field-based outreach, case management and workforce development. Trust-based relationships are central to this work, allowing staff to understand each person's circumstances, goals and readiness for employment.

The grant comes as PBOH prepares to expand its work through a new, year-round Bridge Housing Center in Pottstown. Alongside safe housing and coordinated support, access to employment will remain an important part of helping guests pursue greater independence and long-term stability.

The benefits extend throughout the community. When more people can find and sustain employment, local businesses gain workers, individuals gain income and more households can establish lasting roots in the community.

“We are deeply grateful to The Foxwynd Foundation for recognizing the importance of this work,” said Nathan Brockman, CEO of Pottstown Beacon of Hope. “Sometimes the

difference between securing a job and losing an opportunity is as simple as having transportation, a working phone, or the right article of clothing. This generous grant will allow us to respond to those needs, strengthen relationships with our guests and help more of our neighbors build stable futures.”

Rene Bentley, Trustee of the Foxwynd Foundation, observed that “When people facing homelessness are given a real opportunity to rebuild their lives, the impact reaches far beyond one individual. Stronger, more stable lives help create stronger communities for everyone."

The Foxwynd Foundation DAF funded The Foxwynd Foundation’s generous donation to Pottstown Beacon of Hope.
